EASTLAN SIGNS LONG TERM DEAL WITH 36 STATION GROUP
CEO Benedetti had become “increasingly frustrated”
New Northwest Broadcasters announced today a corporate decision to move all audience measurement to Eastlan Ratings effective in the Fall of 2009. The group deal includes New Northwest markets in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Montana.
"We are excited to partner with Eastlan," said New Northwest Broadcasters President/CEO Pete Benedetti. "After doing our research, we became increasingly frustrated with the challenges of getting the adequate sample sizes necessary to accurately survey listening habits in smaller markets. We feel Eastlan gives us the best chance to do that."
"This is the first of several significant deals we expect to announce in the coming months," according to Eastlan Ratings/CEO Mike Gould. “We really appreciate Pete's confidence in our company. Frustrations like Pete's are beginning to reverberate through radio's small and medium markets. It just doesn't make any sense to spend huge money chasing a shrinking pool of regional and national dollars. Main Street remains the best source of revenue growth in small & medium markets. In this environment, Eastlan's more cost-effective approach makes a ton of sense."
Gould remains bullish on the radio industry, “This is a very exciting time to be in radio. While broadcasters look for ways to reduce costs in a tough economy, one client told us that Eastlan addresses two of their most significant operational problems by offering the opportunity to convert the tremendous reduction in audience measurement costs to save jobs while at the same time, helping maintain regional and national business. Assisting small and medium market broadcasters in growing their business is the foundation on which our company is built. We are thrilled New Northwest is leading other broadcast groups in finding new ways to regain control of their ratings costs and grow the business!"
Eastlan Ratings is privately held media-research firm headquartered in Sammamish, Washington with offices in Florida, Missouri and Oregon. Eastlan Ratings was formed in 1999 and provides radio audience measurement data to over 400 subscribing radio stations in more than 80 markets across the United States.
